Babu Bhatt is a Pakastani immigrant who met Jerry when he [Babu] made the bad decision to open a restaurant in Jerry's neighborhood. Babu wanted to serve classic "American" cuisine such as franks & beans and spaghetti. Jerry convinced him to change to Pakastani fare. For his interest in his business, Babu thanked Jerry and declared him "A good man. A very, very good man!" Unfortunately, Babu quickly went out of business. Babu's next encounter with Jerry came when Jerry had to go out of town and asked Elaine to get his mail. She kept putting it off and when Jerry returned he discovered Babu's visa renewal application had been mistakenly delivered to him. Babu missed the deadline and he was being deported! Jerry ,meanwhile, was dating an immigration lawyer, whom he asked to help him with Babu application. She agreed, but Jerry being Jerry, their relationship quickly soured.
